I think for the most part, most people can agree that the statement “burnt out” is up there for one of the best ways to describe exhaustion. For me The Grapes of Wrath is one long book about family and exhaustion. This painting not only brings forth the idea of exhaustion in the title but clearly depicts it through capturing the traveling mentality that is also present in The Grapes of Wrath as well. In addition, the painting zooms in on a moment of salvation: a time designated to rest.
